NEEDED A NEW HUB AND A NEW HALF SHAFT...SHEERED THE 1/2 SHAFT RIGHT WHERE IT BOLTS TO THE HUB... DID BOTH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH SIMPLE HAND TOOLS AND A JACK... SO ITS EASY!!

Actually i was just going to change the 1 thats popping. but it wouldn't be a bad idea to change both.

Did yours get louder and louder over time or did it stay at the slow annoying pop?

When I bought my truck it was popping in the right side. I noticed it when I was riding passenger. I told to guy I was buying it from what I heard and we took it straight to the dealership. They found right one worn and replaced it. They said it was fine to just change the one that was worn, but they also inspected the left one for any signs of wear. He paid to have it done before I bought it from him. Good guy.

Know what to look for as far as wear goes?

Sure don't..

You could possibly jack each side under the control arm were the spring pocket is. Jack till you clear the tire and try to wriggle the wheel assembly in and out. Put one hand on top of tire and the other on the bottom, wriggle the whole thing in and out. If it moves or pops I'd say it's worn, but not sure if that's a proper way to check them.

Maybe someone who know could chime in.

If the hub/bearing is worn badly enough, there will be play if you jack up the front end and grab the top and bottom of the tire and wiggle it that way. Sometimes a bearing will make noise and not have play though, but if it's "popping" I would expect there to be play. FWIW, I had my front shocks replaced twice under warranty for squeak noises, but my truck is a Z71 4x4.

With 75k on the clock, it's probably a good idea to check all of the front end components...ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, etc.

WORD!

I'll mess with it this weekend and see what i find. it don't sound like the suspension tho because it pops with the rotation.
I just hope i change it before it decides to change its self.

Since it pops with rotation, check the simple stuff also...like a wheel weight hitting the caliper, backing plate hitting the rotor, etc. If all that is good, my first guess would be hub and bearing then. Good luck!
