last year my friend's dad bought a 94 corvette off Ebay. he flew out to Ohio to pick it up and drove it back to NY. he showed me the car when i was over at his house during the summer. well, a month later, he didn't have the car anymore. he is what i found out. when he flew out to Ohio, he went to the used car dealer to pick up the vette he bought off Ebay. well, the salesman said that he misplaced the title and that he would mail it to him. so my friend's dad drove off the lot without the title. waited for a while for the title to arrive in the mail. couldn't get ahold of the used car dealer. not sure if he had given a false number or what. in august, cops/investigators showed up at my friend's house a had to take back the vette because it was a stolen car. now he is out $17,000. there is more to the story but this is what i got out of it from another friend. lesson here: DO NOT DRIVE OFF THE LOT W/O A TITLE.

I heard from an attorney that when you buy a stolen car unknowingly than the car cannot be taken back. He actually handled a case just like that.
