I have HPTuners which allows me to lock my pcm. I have not done this yet but now wonder if I should. Does anybody know for sure if a pcm locked by hptuners would block a Tech-2 reflash?

As you've already discovered, when something is super critical, you can't be too careful. If there's a 'next time', and after you've grabbed the tech by the ears, consider making a couple placards which remind him what NOT to do. Hang one in the engine bay and the other over the ALDL under the dash then cross your fingers, face east, bow three times and pray that all your efforts will make a difference. (and keep a back-up copy of your tune handy...)

Good luck!

I think the crank relearn is just used to detect the misfires. I put in my tune and didn't have the crank relearn code pop up until 2 or 3 months later. I had it done for free by a friend at GM.
Even if you have to pay for it, it should NOT cost $130...that should have set off all sorts of red flags...
