All I can say is this: I spent $300 on a new HPPIII (could have saved probrobly a $100 or so buying used), $236 for an AEM cold air intake, and $315 for a Magnaflow catback. So for $850 I have an Extended cab full size pick-up truck running in the high 14's. (14.98) I have since added a Yank TT3000 for another $700, and have gone a 14.66 (GTECH, track closed for winter) spinning through first gear. I know this truck will run a 14.5 or 14.6 at the track as soon as weather permits because it always hooks better at the track. I can't complain! Total cash spent $1500, on a truck I bought used for $16000. Whats not to like?

This is why the truck scares me. I might just do real light mods, some minor cosmetics and leave it alone. I see you guys going nuts with em, dropping wads of dough and still running 14's. Now, dont get me wrong, there are some killer trucks here and you guys are defintiley "doin your thing", not trying to take away from that one ioda. But - I have a 70 Chevelle w/ a BB, new Muncie SuperCase M22W and posi that is being built as a pro-tourer. I can build the 496 stroker completely for the cost of a couple of mods and edit and put 500 ponies to the ground consistently and I can work on the EF'er with hand tools and a timing light.

So my suggestion is - If you want fast for cheaper then sell the truck, grab a late 60's early 70's muscle and have at it. You need fab skills and manual tuning skills. If you want a peppy truck that can tow and fry the tires from time and basically due what a truck was meant to do then just score a mild tune and leave it be. IMHO only. 3k for a blower? Thats almost my entire build up on the 496.

You want consistent 12 second power, maintain streetability and not spend your retirement fund, not deal with codes, not void factory warranty, not worry about failing emmisions and still pull down 13 - 16 MPG's on the interstate while wiping the road with most trucks out there then get some muscle while the market is still somewhat affordable.

I gota say ... my estimate is what I had in my old truck too, including the POS tranny that some **** built.

So far .. I have about 2500 in mine and I run low 14's.

Having a useful truck to haul my 4-wheeler around and to get the boat back and forth to the lake is nice. Having someone come up to you at the track and say, wow, you got that truck really moving what all have you done, makes it all even better.
