OK... I took a quick look at my 2000 4.8 and I was curious if anyone can explain exactly how/where all the mounting points are.

My top cover mounts with a bolt at the front of the manifold and also at the rear.
Underneath it I have a flat plastic bracket the throttle cable mounts to at the back of the manifold but I don't have cruise control and if it is also used to mount the rear of the covers I think I need part #12561510 (cruise control, engine cover bracket)
And lastly, on the driver side I have a stud at the front of the intake manifold and a threaded boss at the front of the valve cover, but no stud or threaded boss for the passenger side?

Well, I ordered the 3 pc Vortec MAX Covers along with the manifold bracket for the 01-02 trucks and some stuff for my car.
In my opinion these covers are not that expensive which is why I opted to purchase them new rather than hunt for them in a junkyard.

I've seen them sold between $70-$120 used and I found them cheapest on GMpartshouse... about $85 for the 3 covers with shipping using 10% coupon code "solstice" till Christmas. The extra bracket is about $4 if you need it.

Merry Christmas!
