I'm in and out of too many tight *** parking lots and parking garages during the day to think about a spool. My tires would hate me.

Add another few hundred(usually 250-300 retail) for c-clip eliminators also. Also, most of the spools are made for the small hub diameter, so make sure the one you order has the large (99-up) hub diameter, otherwise you cant use it. They do make some with the large, so they are out there. You will know it has the large hub if it requires special bearings for the 98-down rears.
Edit- The Strange spool would have the large hub diameter. I do not know about the Richmond for sure, but I could find out. The cheaper ones would probably have the stock hub diameter, which wouldnt work.

I'd be leary of "....towing more than anything" with a 3600 converter, unless you're towing a landscaping trailer or something small like that. Towing a car on a regular basis with a 3600 converter is gonna make for high trans. temps and ultimately a dead 4L6xe.

Agreed ... My PI 3600 is comng out for a more friendly 2800-3000 for some towing duty.

I run 8.5" internals in the rear in lieu of the 8.6 ... at the time i did my install 8.5" parts were just more readily available. The locker is much nicer that a spool ... spool is goign to wreck things on the street unless you have some seriously low traction crap *** tires.
