Default Duals quieter than single exit?

I currently have a GMPP sport single out setup. If I were to split the pipe into duals using the current single exit muffler, would there be any change to the tone/sound as compared to the current tone? I would like to mellow it out a bit.

Oh come on, there has got to be someone that has gone to dual pipes from a single using the same muffler out there.

duals are louder than a single, tone will be different but i dont think it'll be any more mellow. that kinda depends on the muffler

i went from a 1 in 1 out flowmaster 40 dumped to true dual 40's dumped and it got alot quieter but has a better tone. if u went 1 in 2 out i think it'll be a bit quieter but slightly better tone to it.. my exhaust confused me cuz i was tryin to get louder but it was alot quieter.. i think with reduced back pressure the sound gets quieter to

Well in your case you went from 1 muffler to 2 mufflers, so maybe that has something to do with it?
