Default Entire cluster doesnt work...

The cluster in my 99 doesnt work...any of the gauges except oil pressure and battery voltage. The mileage nor the gear indicator show up, and the tach, speedo, coolant temp, and trans temp dont work. I tried my 02 denali cluster and my original 99 truck cluster and both have the same symptoms....anyone have any suggestions? I dont have the radio or passenger seatbelt thing attached if that makes a difference. The backlights work on the denali cluster, and the SES light works on both clusters...

All of the sensors work fine via my laptop and hptuners.

Sounds like an electrical problem to me. I doubt you can fix it with a hammer.

Well apparently circuit 340 has a break in it somewhere, no power even at the fuse box. I soldered in a wire from an accessory power source to the cluster and it works fine now.

no....why would it? circuit 340 gives power to the cluster and the radio only, its an orange wire, pin location c4 of the light grey connector of the underhood fuse box. And yes the fuse is fine.

I was just wondering. I'm not looking at any schematics or anything like that right now. I was just hopeful for you. I've seen ignition switch problems and wiring problems do strange things over the years, and sometimes things that seem totally unrelated at first, actually are related somehow.

I wish it was that easy, but this trans did the same thing back in January when I had it in my 04.
