Be Carefull, Don't get it on aluminum!!!!
it corodes the aluminum over time.

 

I just use my leaf blower to dry it up after washing the engine compartment.
I blow all the electrical **** off with an air gun.

 

Where can you get Simple Green???

 

grocery store, auto parts store, hardware store, they sell it everywhere around here.

first you need to hose everything all off, then mist it with a diluted mixture of simple green, then let it sit but before it has time to dry hose it off. it works prety good. it will cause spots on aluminum if you let it dry on there.

 

I have no luck at all with Simple Green. Maybe it's the dirt around here, I don't know...

I use Wesleys Bleach White. The stuff that cleans your tires. It's the only product I've ever used that I can spray on and not have to scrub to remove crud. I wet things down, and spray the stuff on. I let it sit a bit - not long enough to dry. Then I just hose it off and it leaves everything PERFECTLY clean.

I started using "WBW" from my dirt bike. I'd bring it home caked in mud and sometimes can't get time to wash it for a few days. The mud we run in is just nasty. For the year and a half I've been using WBW, I have yet to need to take a sponge to the bike, and the thing looks showroom clean when I'm done.

People say it's very harsh, and to watch the bare aluminum on the bike... but I have no problems.

I'm afraid to admit this - but I've even used it on my trucks paint to get rid of disgusting caked on road scum. (roadkill guts, horse crap, pavement oil, etc.)

Anyway... to the first question - I definitely hose off my engine. I spray it down with a cleaner, and hose it off all with just low pressure water - no nozzle.

 

We used to use Simple Green full stength on oil spills from hydraulic actuators on flight sims...cleaned it right up. The oil was made by Castrol--Brayco Micronic 745--and was sort of like ATF.
I've done the Gunk routine but not high pressure on engines. It just seems like the wiring connectors would break down quicker.

 

 

I Simple Green, pressure wash, spray with detailers milk or LRV(wax shop), and wipe down all painted surfaces.

Parish8 J*gs mail order has self adhesive flexable panels that will cut down on the heat transfered to your hood.

 

Zep all-purpose (purple) spray down, 5 min. soak, then either hose or light pressure washing. Let stand for 10min, start. Go crazy.
