Question Factory Headunit Locked

I traded my Alpine for a stock radio from a 03+ Tahoe but when I started the truck today for the first time, the radio says its locked. I asked it nicely to please unlock but it didnt listen. WTF?!
Thanks
-Jesse

youll have to pull the serial number off of the radio or get the vin from the truck it came out of, and go to the dealer they should be able to give you the unlock code, and tell you how to unlock it.

That is the only thing in my vehicle that I have actually had to take to a dealer to get to work. Bought a 6 disc deck off E-bay. It wasn't a matter of codes. They had to have the truck and connect to the BCM to unlock it.

03 and up are coded to the VIN. you must go to the dealer to have this done.

Have a good one,

Don

Just confirming...visit to the dealer: yes. Pull the deck: no. They enter your VIN into an extranet web form and retrieve the unlock code. They enter that code via the Tech2 and you're back in business. If you have time, shop around on this. Some dealers will charge you an hour of labor, others 0.5, and others a flat fee. Some will do it for free if you toss an oil change their way.
