In all my play vehicles I run an AFSS foam suppression systems and backup is a Kiddie 2.5 ABC type bottle I got from the local auto parts store. I've seen cars burn to the ground before and I'd rather have a 5lb supression system and a backup bottle than watch my hard work destroyed.

I run the foam style systems but same principle. You position nozzles around motor, fuel cell, and driver compartment. If fire occurs pull release handle which then opens the valve and the nozzles direct the halon (or foam suppression) to the areas preventing flame outspread.

Surprised that system is Halon. I work in the Oil Field industry and they have a similar setup (only on a large scale) for their facilities up here. Last I heard they are not manufacturing Halon anymore. Just a warning though if you pull it get out of the car as quickly as you can. Halon works by removing all the oxygen from the air....

Halon is getting more expensive and the EPA does not like it but you can still get it for a price. It won't suffocate you, Halon was made for occupied hazards. But the chemical it's made from when changed by extinguishing fire can be harmful. Most design concentrations allow you to breath and escape situation in a non panic mode.
an ABC dry chem extinguisher would be easiest to keep around
