freakin battery light
In the last year I replaced the alternator on my 02 Silverado and I put a new battery in it a few weeks ago. The charging system tested good, but the light will not stop coming on. It just comes on and goes off at random times, but is on more than it is off. If anyone has ideas I would love to solve this problem. Thanks!

Did you put a factory alternator in? If not, I wouldn't doubt if there was a problem/loose connection on the signal wire from the alternator to the PCM that turns on the battery light. If it's charging properly and the batt light still comes on, something else is at fault. Make sure that the terminals that plug in to the alternator are seating good and tight.
Check the battery cables for corrosion also, they may look OK on the outside but could be corroded internally.

I get customers all the time who come to me after installing a PepBoys or Autozone alternator for a no charging issue. Many times they are junk right out of the box. Stick with a Delco.

Mine has done this for 3 years now along with the low coolant warning and nothing is wrong. Alternator charges at 14v and battery load test with no problems. Ive learned to just press the ignore button and check the voltometer every once in a while.

i know of a 02 tahoe that has done this for awhile also, but funny thing is that some of the gauges (but not all) go crazy bouncing back and fourth along with the battery light. I dont think the alt has ever been touched, battery has been replaced. I havent really looked that close into it because it will only do it sometimes on start up then go away after a mile of driving. let us know if you find your problem..
