Default Freaking Fuel gauge! ( Yes i searched)

Pulling my hair out guys.. I bought an '04 Avalanche Z71 . The fuel gauge and the oil pressure gauge wasn't working so I assumed it was the stepper motors...I was wrong. After replacing all of the steppers, they still do not work. I dropped the tank today to replaced the sending unit with a new AC delco unit. Upon pulling the old sending unit out, I noticed the float arm was not on the sending unit. I got really happy thinking some douche nozzle replaced the pump with no arm. Well after installing the new pump , I hopped in the truck and started it up...freaking gauge still wasn't working! Low fuel light is still on, low fuel warning on the cluster too... any ideas wtf else it could be?

Do you have the ability to check with a scan tool? If not, you can get the Torque Pro App for Android for $5, and the wireless ELM327 dongle for about $10(IIRC). That will tell you if you are getting a different reading to the cluster.

My oil pressure gauge wasn't working either (stuck at 80 psi or 0) ended up being the sending unit. Quick, easy, cheap fix too (easy if you have small hands, sending unit in awkward spot on back of motor)
