Default Fuel gauge

So I had my motor replaced on a 01 gmc Sierra and went and pick it up and the fuel gauge isn't working it's stuck in the 6 o'clock position all the way at the bottom. Any ideas what it is?

Probably the stepper motor in the cluster.

An 01 doesn't us3 stepper motors. Maybe a pinched wire some where?

Check for a pinched purple wire inbetween the motor and the transmission bell housing.

I've heard it is a common problem on the 99-06 Silverados to have issues with the fuel gauge acting sporadically. Mine acts up every now and then saying im low on fuel and I have a half a tank at least lol!

my gauges stuck a few years ago but it was the steppers. replaced them all when i did my cluster led conversion. but if an 01 doesnt have a stepper i would say fuel sender or an electrical issue going on.

Mine will do this, and hitting the cluster face will usually free it up and bring it to close to accurate.

Sorry guys for not replying but I fixed the problem I don't really know if it was the cause but the mechanic left bot whites unhook the from the AC compressor and it started working when I plugged them up it was the one at the back at the compressor
