the GM Technical Bulletin reccomends the usage of a Fuel System Treatment. The GM Part number on the Treatment is 88861011. The treatment DOES contain Teflon. So the Teflon coats the sensor and keeps it working properly.
While I have had some sucess in resurecting failed fuel level sensors with this treatment, the pass/fail rating is about 60/40.

Holy Moly...the Counter Guy didn't cut you a break on that? **** the bed!!! I feel terrible trying to tell someone that stuff is $25.00. I keep ours marked down to $18.50 per bottle. While $18.50 is still high, it sure ain't as high as $25.00.
You may need to schmooze the guy a little.

I know... and he even made me pay for my DTRL bulb, I was used to them handing it to me and telling me not to worry about it. But I guess GM is hurting for income right now, so I consider paying full price as my charitable act for the day.

So after the special GM injector cleaner, the gas gauge moves a little slower making it look as though I am using less gas (however I don't really know if it is any more accurate), but it still only reads as high as 3/4 tank when I fill up. I feel like it might be more accurate just because it doesn't jump from 3/4 tank to 1/2 tank after a day of driving and now it slowly decreases. Either way, it was worth a shot.

I just had the gauges replaced two weeks ago under under the GM recall/warranty. The service tech said it was the fuel level sensor, but I really don't feel like buying a new one then dropping the tank so my gauge will read "FULL" when I fill up.
