I get that, but it seems the rpm range would be higher, causing fuel economy to be about equal to what it was because of the larger wheels as opposed to smaller wheels. Once you get rolling, the larger wheels should offset the difference of smaller ones, which would be easier to get rolling in the 1st place. I just think the difference would be negligible unless you're looking to operate in a specific rpm range where economy is best.

I have a 4.8 ecsb 4x2 silverado, 3.42 gears. It averages in the 17's with a city/highway mix on a mild to heavy foot. It is capable of 21mpg highway. I've yet to tune it, fuel trims are slightly off so it might gain mpg after a bit of tuning. I'd like to get a stock HD 6.0 y-pipe and catback.

From what i've seen the LSx v8's often get the same or better milage than the 4.3 v6.

With all that header and cam addittion to your truck I would have to see the numbers. Its very hard to specifically tell that you have gotten 2-3 miles per gallon from one thing or another. Many things affect mpg such as weather conditions (hot/cold, cold being more efficient), road conditons(are there any slopes, gradual inclines, etc), what rpm you rev to each shift, etc.... Unless you calculate the exact amount of gas you put into your tank against how many miles you drive exactly, and factor in all driving conditions, the information is not entirely accurrate. Its the same thing as those air filter companies that claim 20hp, when you see about 3-5 at the wheel. When I see a thread on here with a good study on aftermarket parts and their affect on mpg then I will be a believer.

Some of my friends say that I won't be able to pull this 30' out of the water without 4 wheel drive? Is this true? I haven't pulled a boat out in 10 yrs, and it was a 20' with the same type of setup..
