Already a plug there. For the life of me I can't figure out what it went to. Other ideas?

That's not the hood light connector? On my 99 Silverado (again) I had to replace the hood because I had a minor fender bender and got bent. Replacement didn't have a hood light so I just have a wire hanging there.

I bet that's it.
I forgot to look under my hood earlier.

It seems like that hood light was deleted at some point. Maybe it was a 99-02 only?

My 2004 project suburban doesn't have it either.

Here's my 99. I had a scary incident when my hood wasn't closed all the way down and in the freeway in a construction area it flung open up in rush hour! Thank God I managed to stop and didn't wreck. I pulled over and then got stuck in the median. I managed to get out (thanks to the G80 that didn't blow up on me), removed the bent hood and threw it in the bed and arrived to my destination without a hood. That's right before I decided to do my V6 to V8 swap. Actuall, I think that's when I decided on it. I even labeled the plug when I pulled the engine, LOL.

Darn, now I want to find a replacement hood light! 🤦

Default Yup!

It's the underhood light! I kept looking for a connector on the old engine. Lol. Thanks again all. Should get to start it this weekend!! I'm beyond excited.

robbieroflcopter
great write up.

I'm thinking / doing the same thing to my 2002 Z71 5.3/4L60E Single cab shortbed. (LS3 6.2 w/4L80)
would you post just what you did and the parts you used with links.

what ECU did you use?

Default Parts list

I'll get you a parts list tomorrow. Pretty simple when you know what to get I think.

I used the stock ECU and am getting a tune from Michigan Motorsports. I talked with them a bit and they say it will be no problem to get it tuned.

I used the stock passenger AC bracket but got the swap one for the driver's side from ICT. I also swapped the balancer and water pump for the truck version to line up with everything. Drill and tap the block for the knock sensors. Get an ICT angle adapter and rotation adapter to clear the water pump neck with the throttle body. A Holley throttle body cable mount will work after you modify it to hold the cables.

Let me know if you have questions. I probably have 20-30 hours into it so far and hope to prime and start it this weekend.

Default Transfer case

Anyone know what transfer case is in this thing? It's the auto 4wd electronic model. Curious what kind of fluid it takes. It was green when it was leaking on the floor lol.
