Default Genesis Radiator No Oil cooler vs oil cooler?

like the title says no oil cooler (ALL29597X9590AA)

vs oil cooler (ALL29625X9591AA)-pros/cons
i like genesis because they are local and seem like a top notch product that i can run for a while.

I have never heard of them before, but looked them up and they looked pretty cool... Nice price, I might replace mine with a new radiator with all aluminum instead of plastic tanks.

my 2002 1500 had a trans cooler from the factory. i have a tru-cool 40k and ordered a 34 inch radiator without the trans cooler through Genesis a few weeks ago and was told they were all the same and to just not use the trans cooler ports.

I think that the OP is referring to an engine oil cooler, which would be on the driver's side while the trans cooler ports are on the passenger side.

If you got the radiator with the oil cooler ports and wanted to run an oil cooler, you'd have to buy the cooler lines and adapter from the dealer to make it work. If by some chance you got the rad with the oil cooler ports and decided that you didn't want an oil cooler, no big deal. You can just leave the ports alone or plug them so no debris gets in there in case you ever change your mind.

Is it worth it to run the oil cooler? I have a 5.3 L33 2005 and it came with the electric fans factory. I think with the aluminum block should help some and aluminum oil pan, but have thought about getting the oil cooler and adapter that fits above the filter to try cool the oil off some.... Also if it is worth it, what is the part number for the lines and adapter? Thanks.

I feel that there are a lot of variables that determine whether an oil cooler is worth it or not, such as the application, climate, t-stat and fan settings, etc. On an NA truck like mine that sees some winter driving and never tows anything I don't see it as being necessary...

Thanks for the info I don't tow much, just curious if I get a new radiator and if the lines and adapter are cheap I might just do it. I live in phx and it does get pretty hot here.

I am thinking for me, that this dorman kit would be all I need plus the radiator.... dorman number 625-168? Would that be correct, it appears to be.

Let me know what you think of the quality of the radiator. I ordered the one with the cooler and lines+fittings all for around 220 to my door. I found a 20.00 off coupon on the net for the radiator which covered tax and shipping.
