Getting good MPG, What tires r u running?
I recently purchased 18'' rims and some big rubber for my truck. The traction is great except that i have waaay more traction than i need for this 4.8l. My MPG and throttle response have dropped from the increased weight of the new tire package. For both performance and MPG needs i want to go to the lighter, better suited tire/wheel combination for my needs.
So if you're getting good MPG, which for me would be 20 mpg freeway, 18mpg combined city/freeway, chime in your what tires you're using on what rim and how you like them, thanks for the help.

I just have the stock aluminum 16's on my truck with 275/60-16 Toyo Proxes....nothing special. The aluminum 16's are probably the wheel for MPG on our trucks, IMO. They weigh approx. 22 lbs., have minimal rotational mass, and you could get a set for cheap. You could get some super lightweight Bogarts or other custom wheels but they are extremely $$$. I would look into some Centerline wheels if you want something with a reasonable price and lightweight....and not stock, lol.

My 2004 Tahoe knocks out 20-21 miles a gallon on the highway and gets a solid 18.3 total combined since the day we got her. She has the 5.3 flex fuel and we run the factory 17's with the 265 70 R17 Bridgstone Duler HP's. My 2000 Silvy is a 5.3 and will do 19 miles a gallon on the highway and get 16-17ish combined. I moved up from the 16's to the Tahoe Z71 17 inchers with 265 70 R17 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's. But I/we baby both vehicles on and off the highway, crusie control set at 65/70 on the highway. Sometimes I'll get a wild hair and flog the truck, but those times are few and far between.
Forgot to mention that both have a K&N CAI, not sure if it help though.

I got 22 mpg on the dot coming back from SilverBrick's house. That's about a 175 mile long trip.
specs include:
1999 5.3L ext cab
efans
intake
exhaust
3.42's
255/55/18's on nissan titan rims
efi live 93 octane tune(by me)
this is of course with the a/c on too though
edit- That is also driving about 70-80 average cruising at 1800-2000 rpms
