Default GM Full Size Pickups & Dimples ?

Hello,

My bud has an 06 Duramax 2500 and a sweet custom paint job. He recently noticed dimples / impressions on the top rail of the pickup-bed. This is where the sheet metal bends over from the side of the vehicle and then folds over again to form the bed of the truck. There is a 2-3" lip at the top of the bed sides.

He was informed by the local service department that this is normal due to flex in the frame during driving operations.

Has anyone else heard about this?

Thanks!

Thanks for the posts, unfortunately, I don't have a direct picture, but the generic one I have attached here has green circles of where the dimples occur.

well from where my parents had a huge toolbox in the bed of my truck, i threw a soft roll up bed cover on it, so now all the rust and dents are hidden...... haha but yea ive noticed them on my truck, just thought that was from me standing on them?
