GM redesigned 4.3 v6 LSX based????
Read an article the other day that gm
Are redesigning the silverado and seiera
For 2013, also spoke briefly of a redisign
Of the 4.3 v6. I'm hopeing they will design
It after it's original design but base it off
Of the ls v8 platform! This would be a awsome
Power plant if the kept the same cylinder
Head design as the ls v8! Does any one have
Any insight on this?

hmm, link to the article? It seems unlikely they would base it on the LSX platform as it is today since the Gen5 V8 motors are due in the near future. I would sooner expect them to mimic ford by doing a turbo DOHC v6 based on the 3.0/3.2/3.6 engine line.

It was in a article in a mag I was lookin at
In the grocerie store, can't remember Wich one
But it specify said redesigned 4300 vortec
Not new v6 for 2013 trucks, also talked about
The calorodo being gone and the s10 size
Truck coming back soon! What ever they do
To it I'm sure it will still be a pushrod 90 degree
V6! It only makes sence to base it off the ls
Platform but who knows!

I really doubt it will be pushrod with CAFE regulations. I would expect DOHC DI...a big brother to the 3.6 found in the midsize SUVs and the CTS.
Also will not be surprised to see the inline 5 go away since the Hummer line is gone and the Colorado/Canyon up for re-design.

What week pos gm v6 are you talkin about,
Must be the 2.8 and yes it was def a pos! Your,
An idiot if you think the 4.3 is a week pos, it's
One of the best engines gm has ever made,
And why not push rods? If they are so old school
Why is all the LS stuff still pushrods? And
As far as that Eco boost ford , you woudnt have
To redesign the 4.3 to beat that! Just put one turbo
On it just like it is and it would spank that
Eco boost, even tho it has 2 turbos!
Put them pushrods in your pipe and smoke
Them sand man!!!! cammer engines are stupid anyway
Fords bin tryin for 18 years and still can't make
No power with them!

Just from a performance perspective aftermarket
Parts are more readily avalible and lot cheaper,
A cam swap in a pushrod engine can be done in a few
Hours, twin cams with a 8 ft long timing chain
Would take alot longer and cost 3 times as much,
Guess it's all opinions! As far as the Eco boost, Gm
Kicked it's butt back in 1991 with the sy/Ty
Trucks! So to say a 4.3 is a week pos
Is far from true!

All the 4.3 has going for it is reliability, economy and power both leave something to be desired. Being adequate 20 years ago is hardly an argument for its validity in a modern truck.
