Default GM Stock radio problem

I purchased a new cd player for my 05 Silverado. It works just fine except the cal err message. The only problem is the radio button lights do not come on. Is this a programming problem or a inop radio?

Yeah, I get a similar error on my 1995 C/K 2500. idk what it is, but if I insert a CD it gives me an error message after messing around with the CD a little (as in it goes in, spins, spits it out, goes back in, spins, etc. etc. - you get the idea). Is that the problem you're having? (as in, if I find the solution to my problem, I'll pass along what I did to you...) Anyone else ever experience this? Any ideas?

Thanks!

The button lights on my wife's '01 truck quit working a couple of years ago and my Camaro's button lights quit working recently. I'd sure love to find out how to fix them.
