LQ9 vs LQ4
quadcab vs crewcab
or vs quadcab w/ quad steering
4L65e vs 4L60e
both should have the nu-venture tranfer case.

ones a GMC and one is a chevy

After '02 I believe the SDs went to the Borg Warner case from the NV 149, which the SSS had throughout it's production. A good place to look up info on both would be www.denalitrucks.com and www.silveradoss.com.
