No the GMT800 seats are fantastic. The problem is they break really easy and quickly if you are a bigger guy.
The seat pan is a thin, tin? I'd call it aluminum but it rusts quick and easy when exposed. The seat pan cracks and folds down at the back corners. If you are over 200lbs, and don't get in gingerly, you will break em. When they are good, the front of the seat will sit about 3-4" higher in the front then in the back.
The backs are woven together by a q-tip stick thick metal rod that breaks easy. When they are working good, the lumbar works great, and they are very supportive. When it's broke it feels like you sink into a cheap seat. When those two things are fixed, these seats are phenomenal.

+2 and +3 on the Katskins.. I had them on my first 99 RCSB about 20 years ago. And I’ve had two different sets of them on my 2000 RCSB(actually wore out and wanted to change things up from the Black leather/suede to Ferrari Red Leather).

@chris99gmc Any pics of the red leather? That sounds interesting albeit not particularly my style.

IMO there's a sweet spot for GMT400 seats and it's 1992-1994. The very first years were a little too firm.

The big downside on the early seats is once that fabric is worn, you're not replacing it easily (the ribs in it are glued to the foam) and there's pretty much zero availability on the original style fabric, so you gotta go custom.

Damn comfortable seats though. Spent many 800-1000 mile trips nearly non-stop in my '92. Maybe a half hour nap midway through the trip.

I don’t have any yet. The truck has been sitting for awhile(pump wore out in the transmission) And i’ve been Working on other projects. And the interior isn’t done yet. Basically the seats only.
