Default Guage cluster replacement

So my speedo doesn't work on my 05 (go figure) the truck is past the miles for the recall. I pulled the dash off and was going to replace the cluster and just have the dealer re-program it. I got to thinking, would the SS gauges directly fit into my 05 cc? Here is a link for 03 04 05 06 SS guages. Just the first one that popped up on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...Q5fAccessories

I haven't looked into it too much yet because I wanted to hear some thoughts from all you experts. I will call the dealer today and get a price on the part. They said it would be $110 to re-program it if I did all the work.

That is what they replace correct? the whole cluster, un-plug the wiring harness on the back and put a new one in. . . Thanks for all your help. when it comes to wiring and electronic issues it makes me

That ebay link, has his #. You can call him, but if this cluster doesn't, 1 of his other clusters reprograms for you. Whichever uses your cluster & mods it, there's no need to pay $110 on your own cluster, right?

I sent my original cluster to that very same eBay seller (Speedometer Sales and Service) and had it upgraded into an SS cluster, with full electronic (programming) and mechanical updates. Great people to do business with. Cost me $220 at the time.

You can drive without your cluster, by the way. I didn't have to for that week, but it was always an option.

Ive got the ss cluster in my 07,pretty simple swap...If you dont want to pay for reprograming then just use the sticker that comes with the new one and write down the current mileage and put it in the door seal.Thats what i did..

Tom - I don't want to look down at my miles and think that I have 500 miles when I really almost have triple digits. I will probably just shell out the money up front.

Bill - hmmm didn't even think of that.

So If I hear everyone correctly, I will be able to order an ss cluster, swap it out for the old one, and not the speedo should work but I will be able to plug it right in and drive up to the dealer to have it reprogrammed.

Thanks for all your help!

You could just get the speedo stepper motors off of ebay they usually are the problem and are like 75 bucks for 5 or 6 motors. Also, they are easy to install take like an hour to fix it.

Where did you get yours from? I already got mine and replaced them from digital dash solutions. Same price as you say for the same stuff. They had your gauges available too. Here is a pic of mine all said and done.

P.s. what cd player is that?
