My last truck was a Mazda B2300, really a ford ranger, and that bitch caught on fire twice, second time burning completely 2 years ago.So I can say "I have burned a Ford lately."

I saw the report on CNN, freaked the hell outta me. There was this @sshole from ford trying to explain how low the probability was of that happening to all trucks 
...kinda reminded me of the movie "Fight Club" when the guy explains how a company doesn't make a recall until a certain amount of people have died from the same defect the vehicle has... My dad has a '97 Ford F-150, I checked it out this afternoon and found nothing wrong with it. This won't stop me from takin it into the dealership to have it checked out, I don't want to risk it. I've been convincing them to get rid of that thing and going Chevy or GMC...

I've been convincing them to get rid of that thing and going Chevy or GMC...What happens is the film layer tears from brake pressue, and exposes the hot switch parts to the brake fluid. The fire can happen at any time, key on or off, driving or still, cruise or no cruise.
They have a switch that 'fixes' (bear in mind they used the problem switch for 11.5 years, all the while claiming there was no problem) the problem but won't put it in anything that doesn't have an active recall...
Cars and trucks are effected (12 models total I think). 91 - 2003
