Default Has Anyone Had An Regulated Voltage Control Module Fail? 2005 Silverado

My voltage is reading more than 15V when running. I Unplug the RVC module and it goes to 13.8v.
Its kind of expensive to just toss a RVC module at it to see. Has anyone positively nailed this module as the issue in a similar case?

I wouldn't trust the gauge. Measure voltage at the battery just after start-up when it should be charging. It should read in the low 14's when charging. Then after a good lengthy drive measure again with the truck off. You should see 12.5-12.6V when shutdown if fully charged.

It'll have codes if there is a problem with it and it has to be programmed if replaced. There are also updates for them as well to correct various bugs through the years.
A bad low or weak battery will make them charge wide open also and do not go by the old auto store tester says it's good bit.

My wifes tahoe started doing same thing out of the blue tested it at the shop says good, tested at napa says its good tested at az said battery good. Stuck battery out of my truck in it and she settled right down, It was in fact a bad battery so you cannot trust the testers sometimes.
Her napa legend made it 3.5 years 120K miles so I went back with an napa AGM this go round in it. I really have had the best luck with napa battery since trying them out about 5 years ago after optima left a sour taste in my mouth and a hole in my wallet
