Also these trucks have alot of problems with the mode actuators. Are you sure the air isnt also blowing out of uncommanded vents? The actuators have little plastic gears in them that break. Also there is a tsb for reflashing the hvac module on some trucks due to door travel issues. The way I test heater core efficiency is turn the blower to high and and the heater core inlet hose should be just about to hit to keep a hand on and the outlet hose quite a bit cooler. Once you turn the fan off the outlet hose should quickly approach the temp of the inlet hose now that you have no heat transfer, if not, its plugged up.

HVAC module reflash is on '03 and up. Won't apply to the OP's truck. Just mentioning it to save the OP some trouble.

mode actuators? if ya dont mind me askin what the hell is that lol? im a motor/drivetrain guy...electrical, lets just say im challenged with that lol. and ill definitley give that a try with grabbin the hoses...ive got good heat just no force behind it, either way this is the last year the truck will be daily driven, so im not extremely worried about it even though for the time being it does kinda suck lol

The doors that direct the airflow and control the air temp are controled by little black boxes that consist of a motor, gears, and position sensor circuitry.

Actuator for the temp door looks like this. There's also a blend door.

But yours sounds like a plugged heater core to me, at this point.

Yea that sounds like broken teeth in the actuator. It should never clunk.
