Default heater/AC temp control problems

im having problems with my temp control. i can put it on heater and it do fine, then if it gets too hot, then i turn down the temp to cooler and it stays stuck on max hot.

is this a problem with the electronic control ro something mechanical.

this is on a 01 silverado reg cab manual controls, no rear defroster

I believe that there have been some problems with servo motors sticking which create issues like you've described. Just curious, but when you say turn the temp down, are you turning the dial from red to blue, or the fan speed dial?

turning down the temp would be the center **** from red to blue, i would say turning down the blower/fan speed if i was adjusting the left ****

Gotcha, that's what I thought you meant, you may have a bad servo motor...

There are a few various servo motors for different blend doors on the HVAC unit under the dash, I've heard of them failing at times. The control unit is another possibility, I'm not sure how common of a failure that is though. I've had problems with the lights burning out in mine which turned out to just be the bulbs that are soldered into the circuit board. Older models had heater control valves that used to go bad also, but I'm not sure how the newer units are designed.

If you suspect the control unit to be at fault, you could try tapping on it while adjusting the ****...same with the servo's...if you find their locations under the dash, you could have someone turn the heater control **** while you tap on the servo and see if that "kick starts" it to move.

I have a 2013 Silverado and it has the dual systems, the driver side, stays hot and the passenger side is working right, I have the temperature Number adjustment, all the way down on 60* and the driver side stays hot. I'm trying disconnecting the battery now.

Theres a reflash on the ac control unit for silverados with dual auto climate control, theres a tsb on it, one of the guys i work with replaced an entire ac system (compressor accumulator and condensor, along with a blend door actuator) on a 2010 before i stepped in and found the tsb...... Talk to a dealer about it!!!
