HELP with awful smell from a/c on start up

Default HELP with awful smell from a/c on start up

hey guys i got a 07' chevy 4 door new body style, ok now i bought this truck used right, never really noticed it wen i bought it but now every time i start it up either if its been parked awhile or not it does it, aight well i turn the truck on and then the a/c, wen it starts to blow out theres this smell like i dunno wtf but its like smells wet like something that was wet but then got dry i dunno wtf is causing it, anybody know why this shyt is happening plz help any help would be good

under the passenger side dash, beneath the glove box. remove the heater box cover and there will be another cover to remove and they are right there. if you get bosch filters, there is a diagram on the outside of the box

Don't know about the NBS trucks but they stopped putting the cabin filters in around 2003.

The last time my 05 did this I sprayed lysol into the vents while running the air on full blast . Seemed to help

Could be mold on the evaporator, you could try spraying a product like "Frigi-Fresh" either into the vents or closer to the evaporator, like through the blower motor opening. Frigi-Fresh is made by BG, it's kind of like Lysol for your truck's HVAC system. Also, try to use your climate control in the "fresh" mode (as opposed to recirc) as much as possible, to help prevent excessive moisture=mold on the evaporator.

my truck does the same thing except it goes away after a sec. the truck has done this since it was new. 07 classic. i just deal with it.

yea well i do you the recirc. all the time, as soon as i turn the truk on i turn on ac then press the recirc. button, that may be my problem then ey, thanx guys

i had that problem with my classic 07. it was bad washer fluid. crazy as it sounds every time i would spray the fluid it would smell like a$$. cleaned it all out and smell went away. lol.
