Default Help with factory CD player + sub ... wire colors?

I am trying to install a sub in conjunction with my factory CD deck in my 2001 Silverado RCSB.

I have removed everything, and I have all the parts (in-line convertor, caps for the stock speakers, etc).

Does anyone know what color wires I need to tap into for the sub????

A wiring diagram would be VERY helpful.

thanks,
Chris

i would tap into the rear speaker wires from the back.

RR- LIGHT BLUE
RR+ DARK BLUE

LR- YELLOW
LR+ BROWN

if it were me, i wouldn't tap into the wires coming out of the CD player. i would go directly to the speakers, take them out, then tap into them

Keuka, I just wanted to say thanks for your post.

I got the stereo all buttoned up today and it sounds killer. I used:

JL 2-channel amp
JL 12" sub w/ the right box for regular cab trucks
stock deck
stock speakers
Install Edge RCA convertor
Install Edge Bass caps for front speakers (FL8 Z71 recommended these to me)

The bass hits really hard, and the mids and highs sound pretty good for stock speakers. Overall, I am very pleased for a total investment of $250.

did you tap into the rear speakers?

glad it sounds good. is your 2 channel amp bridgeable? if so, did you do it, because you can get more watts to your subs for them to hit harder

Yes, I tapped into the rear speakers for the signal to the sub.

Yes, the amp is brideable, it says "Bridge" between two of the probes. This told me where to do it, otherwise, since I'm "stereo clueless," I wouldn't have known how!!!
