Default help me build my truck!!! (what would you do thread)

ok i need some help figuring things out...
first i am working on a budget and time so no 10K builds..lol

this is what i have:

2000 rcsb with no motor
2005 4l80 with no converter
2) 5.3L long blocks (05 models i believe with 706 heads)
new ls6 oil pump
new PRC 2.5 5.3L heads
new MS3 cam
new 7.400 texas speed push rods
new ls7 lifters

this is what my options i have been thinking about BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

building a 383 with the ls1 and spraying a 200shot
buying a 6.0L iron block and building a 408 and spraying a 200 shot
use one of the 5.3L
buying a 6.0L short block and possibly turbo it
if i build a motor i can't afford to boost it
or anything that you would think...i'm open

and this is what i want:

i want a truck that is fun to drive and to be as fast as possible for the dollar spent
i would like it to be able to run 10's

and this is what i need from you:

if you were me what would you do???
headers?
stall?
motor?
sell my heads/cam?
intake?
nitrous or turbo?
ect...

please help me out i don't wanna spend money twice or on un nessasary things...
if anyone has things that could help me out in my goals feel free to pm me

thanks
thomas manghelli

first off you wont be hitting 10s without a forged motor and boost or a heavy shot of n2o.

you have a few choices for the power level you want

built 408
built 6.0L
built 383
stock 6.0 w/ around 10-12psi max
stock 6.0 w/ around 150shot max

you can add nitrous to the built options also.

depending on your taste of power delivery, i would do either the built 408 w/ 200-300 direct-port nitrous(200shot on a plate if money is an issue at that point),or a 6.0L(built or not depnding on funds) w/ a procharger or a front mount turbo and/or a shot of nitrous.

all options will require all the boltons and a dyno tune and a built trans and rear diff.

sell all your parts you dont use. you might could use the MS3 in the 408 though

you can probably hit 10s if you go 408/nitrous or built 6.0L/boost

Id get it running as cheaply as possible(stock manifolds,5.3 with the other good stuff you have)Id even leave the stock cam in till u figure out what you wanna do with the truck(turbo,nitrous,n/a)

To many projects end up with a ton of planned mods and either take years to complete,or never get done at all.

If u have the $$$ to finish it with the cheap stuff now,id do that....

i just got through building a 2001 s10 blazer with a forged 370 ported ls6 heads torquer v.2 cam long tubes...ect...

i sold it because i wanted a full size..

I WILL FINISH THE PROJECT!!!

I HAVE AROUND 7k TO DO SO but i would like to save money as well

i'm kinda rulling out the turbo unless i can find a super good kit for a super good price

i also have a NX kit with 8 nozzles so direct port is not a problem

with only 7k to work with forget boost at all.

i vote for building a 408 and doing a DP250shot and using the MS3cam and valvetrain that you have and get some bigger heads w/ a GOOD intake, vic jr, or fast90 or better

and use what you have left to get a shift kit and good stall and a good LSD in the rear. and you will need good sticky tires to hook.

you will have to have a good tune and longtube headers for this also

it depends on which setup you go with.

but if you go with the 408/DP250shot, id go with some kooks 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8" primaries longtube headers w/ true dual 3" exhaust.

stall? depends on how much it will be driven on street and how much you can tolerate but id guess between a 3200-3600 stall
