its doable but the aluminum block isnt quite as strong and with less cubes you will have to spray a bigger shot to get the same results and that means higher cylinder pressures, a better chance for detonation and more destruction if it does detonate.

my opinion for you is to read around on here see what works, what doesnt. check prices and see what some of the things you want cost.

i personally think what you should do is get a 6.0longblock, put in the ms3 cam and get some dual valve springs and run that. along with a edelbrock intake manifold, either the pro-flow XT or a vic jr. or a FAST90 with your direct port n2o with 150-200shot jets in it. get the trans built to take it and get your rear diff built and all the supporting mods done. then see what it runs. who knows that might get you close with some luck.

if you want more after that get a built 408 longblock and swap it out with the 6.0 and then put in some 300shot jets and you'll be good to go.

you can have a built 408 with a 400shot of direct port nitrous injection and runs mid 13s or blow it up if you dont have the supporting mods to make it all work. when they say you gotta pay to play, they arent kidding. its not cheap. just for comparison purposes, 7k might get a complete turbo kit with everything you need if you get some good deals.

when you start hitting low 11s or even dipping into 10s like you want, everything comes into play, you cant just throw some parts at it and expect it to work. transmission, rear diff., driveshaft, fuel system, tune, bottom end, whatever power adder you are using, tires, wheels, suspension, driver skill, even safety, it all comes into play when you get as fast as 10s. track officials require a full cage if you run a 11.50 or faster now

when you figure up all the parts and their cost take that number x1.5 and that is about what it will cost, the little stuff will nickel and dime you to death

as far as the pay to play
i built a 2002 SVT lightning that made 721rwhp@20psi with a 76mm and it ran 10.46@134 on 93 octain but had an unfortunate accident with it inside of a shop that caught on fire without any insurance

here are some pics

sorry bout the truck, looks like it had a lot of hard work in it

but surely you know that you cant have near the performance of that lightning for $7k.

if you want a setup that will work like that one did, a forged 370 with a front mount turbo kit and a 70-76mm turbo and a built 80e and a 14bolt and supporting mods will get it. but not for $7k. your budget is a bit low to get a fullsize truck in the 10s

what do you think it would do with a 76mm on a stock 6.0L with rod bolts and a turbo grind cam??

w/ a ton of meth and a tune on the ragged edge, w/ plenty of fuel, possibly even race gas should be able to get 12-14psi maybe 16psi out of it. make sure you get valve springs too or you will float the valves.

should be around 650-700rwhp and that will be LOW 11s if not dip into 10s depending if you do much weight reduction. might not last too long unless you only run race gas in it. 110 or better. but forge the motor and you will be good to go.

stock 6.0L (317) heads are pretty good, probably wont need to do anything with them but the springs.
