Default Help me by the right Silverado guys

Alright fellas, I need an ECSB (assuming SB is a 6ft bed) Chevy and I'm ignorant on trucks. What is the advantage of a Silverado over just a 1500? Also what years to avoid? I learned the 4th door was made available in '00 so maybe I should start there. I know these are rookie questions, but what can I say, I'm just an f-bod idiot.

all the chevy fullsize trucks are the "silverado" now, it's not a trim package anymore, it's the model. Second, what's your usage going to be? if you're going to tow, and you have money, a 2500 hd with the diesel is your pick, but other than that, i can't tell you anything, because i have no idea your plans for the truck.

I have to agree. It depends on what you are going to do with it.

hmm well.. how about a ECSB Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 engine... 99-02 are the older of the newer body styles.. if that makes sense.. the 03-05's are a little more stout (more hp) and have the newest of the newer body styles... they come in the z71 package for 4wd if its needed... If your buying used.. try to get it under 25k and I wouldnt go any older than 01 or 02

Get the half ton 00 and up. I would get the ls package unless you have to have leather but then again some of the ls's have leather. I would go with the 5.3 especially since you are used to a ta. Diff in gas mileage between a 5.3 and 4.8 not much if really any. 03 and up just have 10 more hp diff cluster window and lock switches and ac controls besides the obvious front end. 03 and up have the upped hp rating 99-02 are the same. 5.3=285hp/330tq(i think)
