HID fog lights - anyone melt the housing?
I'm thinking about replacing the regular fog light bulbs in my '05 Sierra with a set of 6000k HIDs. I ran these in my Suburban but they were mounted in a set of modified PIAA 40 series driving lights with glass lenses. Has anyone done this mod with the stock fog lights/lenses and if so, how are they holding up? I'm a little concerned with melting them.
I know someone might want to write that fog lights aren't supposed to be used all the time, putting HIDs in will blind people ect, ect... I'm doing it for 1 - looks. The 6000k low beams and fogs look awesome (main reason for doing this) and 2 - the light output is so much better and they won't blind others if aimed properly.

i put some bulbs in my fogs one time that where suppose to look like hids and they melted the housings. i changed them out with some blue ones and they worked fine after that. i think it will be sweet with hids in the fogs.

Hum... I guess there is only one way to find out for sure. I'll have to install a set tonight. If I see a liquid plastic trail behind the truck I'll know that it isn't good

The stock fog light bulbs are an H10 but I beleive they are supposed to be able to cross to a 9005. The 9005 will go in and turn a little but they don't really lock into place. One bump would drop them out. I might need to locate a 6000k H10 HID kit.
I'm working with a kit with Phillips ballasts. The kits now are cheaper than they were a few years ago. I remember when they were $700.+.
