Default HIDs

.......I bought a pair of Taiwanese Denali headlights, and two HID conversion kits awhile back, and finally got around to installing them. I decided to start cleaning up my mess, and when I opened the box that the HID kits were in, it turned out that I bought them in 2005. Damn, I'm slow.

......Anyway, the low beams are great. Nice cutoff, and the whole lit part of the road is bright white, just as I hoped it would be.

......The high beams are a different story. The spot starts at the low, or closest point, right in front of the truck. It seems to go pretty far down the road, it could go farther, but I can't raise them any higher because the lows are as high as is safe. The problem is that the close part is overwhelming the far part. It would help if I could cut off the low part of the spot.

......Is a not too great high beam standard in the Denali projectors, or is my crappy-ish high beam a result of my saving money on non-OEM parts? I wouldn't think that it is the bulbs fault, because they work so well in the low beams.

Are they ricer? I was worried about that. Yeah, I'm saving up for fuel tank material. I just doing all of the "free" mods for now (installing or selling crap that I've accumulated).

I'm definitely a sleeper and stealth kind of guy, I'd never allow my beams to purposely be annoying. Here is a sample of how good the low beam cutoff is. For some reason this out of focus pic best shows the pattern:

And here is my best pic of the high beam pattern. After seeing the pictures, I realize that the high beam is just too low, I can't raise it any because the low beams are as high as possible without shining in oncoming driver's eyes.

Any comments from people with Denali projectors about the high beam aim?

You consider combining both to get better distance light.Maybe stock Denali's have them tied together when high beams are used?

Good fog lights would get you a lil more distance.I agree though the current configuration looks too low.

My high beams look exactly like that. I'm pretty sure the great spread that you're getting from your low beams is coming from the convex lens in the projector setup

Nah, that would just light up the close area more. If I could get the highs up to where that street light is at the top of the hill, I'd have 200 mph lighting.

Here is an underexposed picture of the high beam to emphasize the spot. When I toggled between the low pic and this, the spot is actually no higher than the low beam.
