Default HIDs causing shorts?

Well, needless to say Im pissed.

My truck that I bought in March (2008 Silverado) has less than 8,000 miles on it and the door lock actuators go out. I dropped it off at the dealer and their diagnosis was shorts in both door lock actuators and thery replaced both. Not even 6 hours later, they both go out again....? I have an appointment next week to get them looked at again. Its not costing me anything but its a pain in the ***.

The ONLY thing I have done to the electronics is a set of 6000K HID's? The radio, speakers, everything is stock as far as electronics go. Do you guys think that the HID's could cause a short somewhere? They work perfectly and are hooked up correctly.

Thoughts?

If they are hooked up correctly i would think they should not be causing your problem. Does the dealer know you have the HID's?

I haven't heard of anyone having a problem like that with HID's. I'd lean more toward a problem with either faulty actuators or with the factory remote entry.

Best of luck.

Both of those run on separate wiring harnesses. I strongly doubt that your HID's have anything to do with your door lock actuators. If something was wrong with the HID's you would have problems with other stuff under the hood before you would have problems with the door lock actuators. Sounds like maybe a harness is chafing, or a ground wasn't attached properly in the cab somewhere.

I doubt that your HID's have anything to do with your door lock problem, as thunder said, they are different circuits. Your door lock issue may not even be actuators, there may be a problem elsewhere such as an open ciruit do to poor pin fitment in a junction block somewhere. It doesn't make sense that 2 actuators would fail at the same time...twice.
