I wouldn't use belt dressing, that crap gets messy and nasty...actually, if you think a belt is slipping, valve lapping compound works best, we use it at work all of the time. The grittyness helps provide traction for the belt to keep it from slipping.

I agree, valve lapping compound works best. If that doesnt fix it and you replaced the belts, maybe you should double check the part number on your belt and make sure its the right one

The belt is the one that cam supplied with the Vortech kit, but Ive since gone to a 3.12 pulley from the 3.33. Im going to get a new belt when I get my 2.87 pulley, but hopefully the valve lapping stuff can get rid of the squeel until then.

The guys at the auto parts store had no idea what I was talking about. I finally found some stuff called but its real gritty kind of. As I was putting it on it just seemed to be whisked away and none got on the belt so I turned the car off and puddied some on the parts of the belt I could reach. When I started the truck again it was squeeling really bad for about 30 seconds and now I cant hear anything. Is this a one time fix or periodic? Thanks. I really appreciate the help.

Sounds like the vortech bearing is going out, turn it by itself and see what happens. If it were a pulley out, you'd be shredding belts like no ones business. Maybe also check the belt length.

The lapping compound is kind of a band aid more than anything. Usually you get away with doing it once, but if there's a bigger issue (belt too long), it may become a maintenance item. I saw your other thread about switching to a shorter belt...sounds like that might be the answer.
