thought you guys would get a kick out of that (sophomoric humor ) but ok let me get this right, the airbag is connected to the plastic pad in the middle of the wheel and I must release the assembly by sticking (2) pins in the the recesses and pulling the whole unit out?
What about replacement, does it just slide in and 'snap' into place?

Yes,
Each side of your steering wheel will be a small hole to insert a pick or very tiny screwdriver in to release the lock that holds the air bag on each side of the wheel.
Just push in till you hear/ feel the release Bill, then it pops right off.
Its easy once you see it done!, Almost like taking our head rests off.
Yes again, it just snaps in place for reinstall.
There are 2 connectors on the back, just unplug them, re plug them in when done.
