Question How to adjust gear box so steering column doesn't hit header

I had my pacesetters on my 5.3 and never had an issue, but after my 6.0 swap the steering column rubs on the header.

I read in a few threads using the search feature () to adjust the gear box to straighten out the steering column some so this doesn't happen.

But I'm really looking for a pic of what I'm doing and a small set of directions on what to do to adjust it.

Just not totally sure on what/how to do it.

Thank you

I haven't heard of anyone adjusting the box position itself. Most people just hammer the header so it won't touch the shaft.

Did you ever fix this problem? I have the EXACT same issue as you. Had the 5.3 with the Pacesetter headers, swapped to an Lq4 and now it rubs ever so slightly on the hump right below the connection to the intermediate (collapsing) shaft. I've alread tapped the header with a drift and a hammer to dent it and it's gotten better, but I think i'm going to have to completely remove the shaft, grind it down and tap the header a little more to really fix the problem.

I actually just ended up using a big pry bar to straighten the steering shaft at the pivot point as much as possible and that fixed it for me.

Are the headers actually hitting the shaft itself or is it the shaft bolt hitting the headers?

The shaft bolt on mine would come in contact with one of the primaries when torque was applied to the engine (while turning). I just cut the bolt off short.
