Does the dealer sell replacements that can be pressed on? The universal ones at the auto parts store fit too loose and grease leaks out. This is for a 2000 and 2001 truck.

I'd like to know the awnser to this too. I was able to get a huge universal lower joint boot over the top of the upper boot that was split open. I just covered it up. It fits snug on the top. I replaced the lower ball joints and it came with new boots so i wouldn't know what could be done with those

Until July of this year I went 5 years with torn upper and lower balljoints. Just grease them 1-2 times a year. Even when I changed them there was no play in them.

The dealer will replace the ball joints, but you will not find a replacement boot, just use the aftermarket 1 over the fucked up factory one and grease it every oil change, it will last...1-2 times a year i would not recommend...its a wear item...its meant to be lubed.

Meh, I'm not the only one who has had success with it. Never once did I lube it up and it was dry or even close.

hmm...you must be a lucky one...

I notice about every other oil change when i lube mine they have dropped down considerably...tie rod boots have holes so its expected, ball joints are fine.

I have a torn idler arm boot that I've been greasing every other oil change (about once or twice a year) for a few years now. As long as they keep a good layer of grease between the sockets and the elements you should be OK.
