How do you disable Onstar on an 05 Crew Cab Silverado.

Default How do you disable Onstar on an 05 Crew Cab Silverado.

Is this really necessary to flash the pcm. If it is, how is this done?

why would you want to disable it? do you not want big brother tracking you?

you need to disable it, it will send out a signal that your truck is being stolen.

Try reading the http://magnacharger.com/pdf/manual11.pdf I think step 184 is where the process of turning off the on* starts.

Just pull the fuse under the hood in the fuse block named "info".

I never knew it did that... i programmed mine and reprogrammed, and reprogrammed it many times and never took it off.

The Hypercrap programmers require the OnStar to be disabled for computer flashing. (The info type, not the kind where you have to take your pants down)

After I got HPT I kept flashing with all the fuses pulled (just like the Magnuson Handheld required). After about 20 flashes I stopped pulling the dash fuses. After about 20 more I stopped pulling the underhood fuses, too. I just wait for all the "key on" routines to run and turn off all the Radio, A/C, etc and then flash the computer. No problems. Use this method at your own risk, though
