You could make the same hp NA with the same cubes, but the lowend torque of a roots blown motor would win in the 1/4.

yup i agre with the above. besides, again lets not get caught up in the peak dyno numbers (i know that is all we talk about online). but peak wont get you down the track. the eaton is jsut awesome for a lower hp combo (talking 400 rwhp and below). it makes full boost and tq way way low in the rpm band (talking 2200 rpms) and it carrys it till shift point. that = moving 5K+ lbs fast
the real question is, why doesnt GM do this? lol.

this thread is funny. a couple of thoughts that i have.
the lightnings have a quicker list because there are more lighning guys moding their trucks. bound to be quicker trucks if there are more people moding. our fastest truck list is changing quickly and i think we will be right with them soon. i hope to be quicker than the quickest lightning and i even think it will be easy if they stick with the blowers and don't swap over to a turbo.
i dont know what a used lightning cost but i ran 10's for under $30k including the cost of the truck and some tuning tools that can be used in the future. compared to a fox body that is a lot of money but i dont think you can get a 2nd gen lightning in the 10's for anywhere near $30k.
i am a truck guy, if the chevy trucks were running the old 5.7 vortech motor i would probably be building a ford. i am a big gen3 motor fan.

I have a buddy that has a L and its awesome from the factory all the way down to the suspension (bilstein)and its quick and all but he and I were side by side and punched it from about 55-60 and we were still side by side-my truck is stock for now but its fixing to get boost and he wont know what hit him once that happens. Now granted if we raced from a dead stop id get my *** handed to me but that because thats what that truck is built for from the factory. I agree if the they put more time and effort in the Joe Gibbs and lowered the price a bit it would be better than a L. Bottom line is hopefully Chevy will wake up and smell the coffee one day and do something about this before its to late and they come out with that 500hp Lightning.
