How much does a gallon of gasoline weigh?

This web page http://www.santacruzpl.org/readyref/...gasoline.shtml
has the weight of gasoline at 5.8 - 6.5 lbs depending on temperature.

And this site http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-2617.html has the weight of gasoline at 6.25 lbs on a 72 deg day. Gas gets more dense as the temperature drops.

We use 6lbs. per gallon in the aviation field.

Thats what i was thinking...We have alot of those 2.5 gallon gas jugs...

Water weights just a bit above 8 lbs/gal and gas is less dense that water. I heard gas weights approx. 6ish lbs per gal give or take because of additives and temp

25 X 6 = 150 lbs
3.125 X 6 = 18.75

If you run an 1/8th of a tank of gas at the track, you're saving 131 pounds, which is good for a tenth or more in the 1/4.
