has the weight of gasoline at 5.8 - 6.5 lbs depending on temperature.
And this site http://www.faqs.org/qa/qa-2617.html has the weight of gasoline at 6.25 lbs on a 72 deg day. Gas gets more dense as the temperature drops.

you could always be a sport and get an empty gas can, weigh it with a very accurate scale, then go to a pump and add one gallon, and then weigh it again.
