Default How to replace fuel pump

i am too lazy to do a search.

how hard is it to replace a fuel pump?

is there like 2 ways to do it? drop the gas tank, or remove the bed?

or am i wrong. anyone done it themselves?

I did mine myself. It is not to hard to change it. I dropped the tank on mine but I had a lift. Once you get to the pump the job is pretty straightforward.

drop the tank . . .with a jack, and two straps . . . it's pretty easy . . . . .or the hard way with 6 bolts + the weight of the bed

sounds like dropping the tank is the way to go. is the best way to tackle it to drain all the gas 1st, or just wait until the tank is on empty and with a jack lower the tank with the little gas that is in it?

Its easy, have someone else do it.
Drive around until you have used up nearly all your gas or drain the tank and drop it is the easiest way if you want to replace it yourself. I changed one on an OBS and it was fairly simple. Haven't had to mess with one on a NBS yet fortunately.

well drive around, or suck it out . . .
or pull the return, and start the truck, and let it idle. Dump the gas in a metal container or another gas tanks. . . .- GAS IS HEAVY ! Get as much as you can out. If it's too full, or you're too lazy, then you need to pull the bed.
