Default I need more power from my 4.8

I have a 2003 Silverado with the 4.8 and 70k on it. It is an extended cab short bed. I recently picked up a 26 ft enclosed trailer. The truck towed it home fine but im afraid once I load it up with the race car or race truck that it will be to much for the truck. I dont want to go tearing into the motor nor can I afford a turbo or supercharger. As of right now the truck has only a flowmaster muffler, and a KN cold air kit. What should I do?? Please dont say buy a new truck its not an option.

Thanks Erik

Ya, there's no cheap and easy way to make more torque out of 4.8. The turbo helps mine ALOT. It tows very well now

Check car-part.com for a low mileage lq4 or lq9 ( 6.0l ) and do a engine swap.Go ahead and get a good shift kit put in your trans then an extra tranny cooler.Get someone like nelson , jesse,pcm4less to do a mailorder tune.If you could do the swap yourself you could do it way cheaper than a used s/c or turbo! Thats just my opinion.

A good tune, 4.10's and an Eaton would be a good start. Tranny upgrades would be a good investment along w/ a good cooler as mentioned above....

That sounds about right. From what i've read, people that have done this will swear by it and love the results.
