Default i'm dumb, can't even jack my truck right (pic)

went to install new rear rotors and the hardest part of the whole thing was jacking my truck up. i put the 3 1/2 ton jack under the rear axle. got the driver's side tire off the ground. i put a jack stand underneath to lower it on. i couldn't loosen the handle on the jack to lower the truck down, and the handle came out from the jack. now i can't get it back in since the lever or whatever it is called sprung upward. so i had to crawl in the back of my extended cab to get the factory jack. the factory jack didn't not extend high enough so i had to put 2 boards underneath it so i could lift the axle off of the craftsman jack. what a PITA. i must be retarded. i took pics of my idiocy. finally i got it on the jackstands. notice my new license plate too

might try jacking it under the differential next time........

you should never jack it up on the axle tube.

Is that anything like jacking a car up to install lowering springs then after the springs are in you find that the car sits too low to get the jack out.

Why not? I've always jacked up my trucks/cars under the differential. NEVER had a problem.

BTW, I ALMOST had the jack handle thing happen under my Camaro and let me tell ya those were some tense moments

it kind of scares me having BOTH wheels off the ground with just the jack supporting it at the PIVOT point. i've seen it done, but i'm personally not comfortable with it. i've had a large shed almost crush me and my dad that was supported by that same jack.

ya, it was a tense moment trying to jack the truck up even more in order to get the other jack out. next time i will make sure that handle is never coming out

I see your point, but a triangle is a very stable platform, and that is what you have: 2 front tires and a point under the diff. When you are done jacking it up, just stick some stands under the tubes by the spring pack and let it back down.

Anyways, yeah tighten the retaining screw that holds the handle in next time.
The new rotors look great I must say.
