ya, i would have to say jack it up under the diff.... thats how we were trained to do it at all the tire places i worked at.

i also do all of my stuff with the jack under the pumpkin of the rear alxe,

Same here! IMO, the front is a little harder to find a good cental location. At least on mine with the skid plate in there.

either way i would of been screwed. i think it would of been a little scarier if the jack was under the differential and the handle came out.

That happened to me once. I put a tire iron in the handle socket on the jack and was able to get it back in postion to re-insert the jack handle. Made sure the screw was tight after that

i tried that, but couldn't get it in. i gave up too soon. probably would of worked if i was persistent
