Heres the deal. My truck is going to be used alot more then I was planning on. Im putting a built 80e in it with the stock HD converter which Im told brakes talls to 2400 behind a stock 6.0. Here is the deal, I have decided not to drop my truck like I was planning, instead Im going to put some 33s on it so I can use it at the deer lease since I wont have access to my old 72 Bronco for now. My truck will be used for towing a low boy trailer with 4 4wheelers, deer corn, feeders, stands etc, along with a boat this summer. I have all the parts to put the 418 back together and run it in N/A and run a small cam for alot of down low tq to make it a nice tow rig. But Im also thinking of boring my old 5.3 block and throwing some forged pistons in with some LS2 rods I have sitting in the garage along with some Katech rod bolts I already have too. So basically I would have an iron block 5.7 with forged pistons, and I would wait till a radix shows up for a good price and throw on there. Im thinking I would get more mileage(mpg and longevity wise) out of the boosted 5.7 then the N/A 418 and give me even more low end tq. My main focus now is a "put it in and forget it" solution. Im tired of wrenching on this thing and I honestly dont give a **** if it sees a 10 second pass anymore. Later this year I plan on getting an SS or T/A that I could throw the 418 in but well I dont have the car yet and who knows what will happen between now and then. Either setup will throw my 317s on after they have been worked over by Richard at WCCH. Of course the 5.7 would get something like a GT2-3 cam to compliment the radix. Streetability is of upmost importance along with reliability and gas mileage. I will be making atleast one trip a month to Dallas(500 mile round trip) so either setup will be made with the intent of running 87. I know this whole post goes against what I have planned and spent alot of money on but there are alot of things changing personally for me and a race truck just isnt in the cards for atleast the next 9-12 months. I would be perfectly happy with a mid 12 sec pass, if I go the 5.7 route I will always ahve the 418 on the engine stand to throw in if I get a wild hair up my *** to really go fast. Right now an all out nitrous fed large cam stroker motor just isnt going to be a working situation. I have ridden in a few Radix trucks and I like how they run, I think a radix is the wrong choice for all out performance but for a good mileage DD app the just a nice bump in performance is needed that it foots the bill nicely. So who would do what?

Dont get me wrong I want to go fast but I have alot of other **** going on in life right now that just doesnt allow for a race truck. If someone wants to buy me a Dmax then Ill go all out on this truck but until then a 3400 stalled truck with a big *** cam just isnt a working situation, you cant exactly pull 8K through the hill country even with the big *** trans cooler I have. Once day I may go all out on it, just not right now, unfortunately some priorities are more important that others.
